This 3-part series (Hips, Spine, Shoulders) is designed for the curious yogi who wants to better understand their own body in order to make their yoga practice more personal, informed, and dynamic. You sign up for each session individually.
While we all share the same basic skeletal structure, our needs in practice can be vastly different: age, frequency of practice, history, genetics, injuries, routines, and habits — all make a difference. A working knowledge of anatomy and joint function gives us the tools to discern what we need as individuals. When we make better choices, our bodies respond in surprising ways.
Anatomy knowledge is only useful when we can feel and apply it. In this series, we will take our learning out of the realm of ideas and into our own bodies through practice, observation, experimentation, and adjustment.
Each workshop will examine one of the three largest structures of the human body, while introducing foundational anatomy and functional concepts that can help enhance your practice. We will explore common poses and transitions within a flow practice and investigate the challenges they can present for different bodies, as well as the potential for growth they may offer.
You will leave with practical tools you can take into your home practice or your next studio class, helping you continue to develop greater strength, ease, and functional movement. You might even find yourself practicing poses you did not know you could do.
You can take one workshop or all three. No prior knowledge is required, just an established yoga practice and a willingness to explore.
Already taken Einat’s Anatomy in Motion series? This series offers a more practice-oriented approach. We will revisit some of the concepts from that series, but with much more time devoted to experiencing, applying, and integrating them in your own body.
