Alex Medeiros returned to her yoga practice in 2022 when a friend showed her that yoga can be a space for all humans, especially historically marginalized communities, to reconnect with their bodies and intentionally practice rest. As a queer woman of color committed to social justice and radical candor, Alex firmly believes in bringing yoga’s empowering benefits to everyone, regardless of identity or experience.
Given her own struggles with chronic illness, pain, and self-judgment, Alex focuses on building strength and stability in both body and mind, encouraging students to resist judging themselves or others as they flow through rigorous yet accessible postures. She does this through pausing, utilizing breath, embracing curiosity, and honoring the way poses feel today while always trying to deepen sensation each time you step on the mat.
Alex received her 200 hour training with Petra Lehman-Brauer of Create Power Yoga in 2024. Alex’s teaching style and flows are rooted in Baptiste power yoga but pull from other yoga lineages including Iyengar and Ashtanga. Students can expect a class grounded in pranayama (breath) and movement with a wide variety of entrance points into the practice.
