Weaving the Threads of Practice & Teaching

Whether you’re beginning your journey or seeking to refine your teaching, this workshop series offers a transformative experience for all. In the afternoons, Jarvis with special guest Patricia will work with teachers on observation, adjustment, and instruction based on what was observed in the morning session.

  • This is an in-studio only program, there is not a zoom option.
  • Teacher attendees must attend both the morning and afternoon session on any given day.

Yoga for All

For all levels

What will you learn?

The morning workshops will break down the principles of Iyengar Yoga with more time for inquiry and explanation. The afternoon programs are designed for teachers to explore teaching techniques specific to Iyengar Yoga including demonstration, instructions, prop usage, adjustments, and sequence design.

Each day of this program unfolds like a tapestry, with morning workshops and afternoon learning labs designed to enrich both students and yoga teachers alike.

Morning Workshops (for all levels):

Each morning workshop for students will bring together the threads of your practice in a cohesive way, fostering a sense of integration on and off the mat through asana and yoga philosophy. If you are a yoga teacher planning to join the afternoon teachers lab, you must join the morning workshop.

Teacher Labs

The afternoon is for teachers only!

The Teachers Lab is an in-person opportunity to explore teaching techniques specific to Iyengar Yoga in a supportive community of fellow practitioners and teachers.

Based on the daily morning workshop, you will review the sequence and have time to unravel the threads of the practice with Patricia and Jarvis.

You will also practice hands-on adjustments and modifications and if desired, receive personalized feedback and guidance from Jarvis Chen and Patricia Walden to refine your teaching skills.

This is a fabulous opportunity to deepen your practice, and enhance your teaching.

Who is the afternoon session geared towards?

Iyengar Yoga Teachers, Iyengar Yoga Students who are planning to take Assessment in the future. Yoga teachers who are not Iyengar trained but interested in the afternoon sessions program should reach out to Jarvis or info@artemisyoga to see if this program will be suitable for you.

Step 1: Use your MINDBODY account with Artemis Yoga to register for the class.

  • Meeting ID in the class description.
  • Please register in advance to streamline attendance and to allow us to send you a recording if you miss the class or join late.
  • Please register even if the class is listed as “free community class.”

Step 2: Log into https://zoom.us/join and enter the Class-Specific Meeting ID then click “Join”.

  • Meeting ID in the class description.
  • Start the login process 10-15 minutes before class so that you are ready.

  • We start letting people in from the Waiting Room 15 minutes prior to class. Large classes take a bit for us to check everyone in, please be patient.

Step 4: When let in from the waiting room, click “Join with Computer Audio.”

  • We mute participants during class but you may unmute yourself at any time to ask questions or to say hello! We like to see you and greet you, though you may choose to turn your camera off.
